Vision

The Middle Tennessee State University Center for Sport Policy and Research (CSPR) will be a distinctive academic research and instruction center that provides a platform where practical solutions for sport can be explored, researched, presented, voiced and implemented.

Mission

CSPR seeks to become a leader for change in the academic discipline and profession of sport. The Center will be housed at Middle Tennessee State University, in conjunction with the Sport Management graduate program, and will create a scope of knowledge and consensus about sport; develop a new class of leaders and thinkers called Scholarly Sport Practitioners; and address the concept of social responsibility in sport organizations and stakeholders.

Drivers

Our mission will be advanced by three primary drivers.

Scope of Knowledge and Consensus
The Center seeks to disseminate research knowledge in a format that is readily accessible to governing bodies, media, practitioners, scholars, students, and the public to help reach consensus on critical sport issues, as well as solutions that are both desirable and feasible.

Development of the Scholarly Sport Practitioner
The Center seeks to be a portal of practical information that encourages practitioners in the sport to champion ethics and pioneer innovation by creating a greater understanding of the applicability of sport research to their organizations, duties, and skills.

Development of Social Responsibility in Sport Organizations & Stakeholders
The Center seeks to publish research that will enable sport organizations and stakeholders to better understand their function and role within sport and to redefine social responsibility in ways that can be incorporated into one of modern society’s more prominent, preeminent, pervasive, and powerful social institutions.
